The People’s Summit: A Recap
Giving voice to the people of the Americas, The People’s Summit created a powerful grassroots alternative to Biden’s ‘Summit of Exclusion’
While President Biden was hosting The Summit of the Americas - an event to which some countries weren’t invited and some have decided to boycott, a massive grassroots event was taking place in LA at the same time.
That was The People’s Summit!
Our People’s Summit 2022 concluded on June 10 after 3 days of intense debate, exchange, discussion, dance, conversation, and marching. Our vibrant and diverse Summit made history.
Our team went all out at the People’s Summit building movements, seeing friends, dancing, and resisting empire! We’re so honored to have been part of the inspiring, uplifting, and energizing People’s Summit for Democracy, and look forward to continuing our collective struggle for peace and democracy. This is just the beginning!

Vigil to protect the Amazon and support frontline communities
CODEPINK joined Amazon Watch on Tuesday, June 7 along with an Indigenous delegation from the Amazon rainforest who built an altar and invited all attending to bring offerings. Local artists, poets and other environmental justice groups joined in sharing their art, stories and struggles in this shared space.
Block Parties, Not Blockades!
On June 9, we held a block party outside the Summit of the Americas, aka the ‘Summit of Exclusion,’ to celebrate & symbolically represent the three nations excluded from the Summit– Cuba, Venezuela & Nicaragua– and the countries that boycotted in solidarity.
